“Same Page” Art Book Fair Announces 2025 Edition

The third edition of the Same Page Art Book Fair will return to Gertrude Contemporary in Preston on 18–19 October 2025, continuing its mission to celebrate independent publishing and artist-led bookmaking. Presented by Gertrude Contemporary and Perimeter Books, the fair invites exhibitors to apply now, with applications open until 11:59 p.m. AEST on 27 June.

Dedicated to showcasing innovative imprints, small presses, and self-publishing practices, Same Page has established itself as a significant platform within Australia’s contemporary art and photography publishing landscape. The 2025 fair will once again bring together local and national publishers, booksellers, and artists whose practices are grounded in critical thinking, visual experimentation, and collaborative production.

“Same Page is a space for independent publishers and artists to engage directly with audiences,” organisers state. “It foregrounds the voices of makers working across photography, visual art, writing, and design, and emphasises publishing as a vital form of artistic expression.”

Held over two days, the fair will feature a curated selection of exhibitor stalls, alongside a dynamic public program that includes panel discussions, book launches, and artist talks. Visitors can expect a diverse offering of photobooks, zines, artist monographs, and critical writing—many of which are produced in limited editions and are unavailable through traditional commercial channels.

  • Same Page operates at the intersection of art, photography, and publishing, offering a space where emerging and established practitioners alike can share their work in book form. For photographers in particular, the photobook remains a powerful medium for narrative, experimentation, and circulation—outside of the gallery and into the hands of readers.
  • Gertrude Contemporary, a cornerstone of Melbourne’s contemporary art scene since 1985, provides a fitting venue for the event. Its High Street site in Preston offers a flexible and welcoming space for dialogue, presentation, and exchange.
  • Perimeter Books, known for its commitment to boundary-pushing publishing and distribution, co-presents the fair, continuing its long-standing advocacy for independent book culture.

As the role of print continues to evolve in the digital age, events like Same Page reaffirm the photobook’s place as a critical and creative form. For artists and publishers alike, this fair represents not only an opportunity to exhibit, but to connect—with readers, collaborators, and a wider community of independent thinkers.
