About Void is an art-house publisher specializing in photography books that challenge conventions and push creative boundaries. Founded in 2016 by Myrto Steirou and João Linneu, Void is dedicated to investing in bold, market-defying projects, self-funding books, and ensuring fair compensation for artists.
As a fiercely independent publisher, Void embraces unique narratives, innovative design, and fine experimental materials to create books that might not find a place elsewhere. Their commitment to hands-on craftsmanship is evident in every publication, making each book a carefully curated work of art.
Publishing Philosophy Void’s mission is to support both emerging and established photographers. Their catalog features debut books from photographers taking their first career steps, alongside works by renowned artists like filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and Magnum photographer Olivia Arthur. Despite commercial challenges, Void remains steadfast in its goal to foster young talent and launch career-defining titles.
In 2021, Void became a member of Futures Photography, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing emerging talents. Through its global distribution network, Void ensures its books are accessible in bookstores, libraries, and public collections worldwide.
Global Reach & Distribution Void’s publications are distributed internationally by Idea Books, with additional retail distribution in the UK through Art Data. Their books are proudly collected by MoMA and archived in over 150 public libraries, including institutions in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, and the United States.
Book-Making Workshops In addition to publishing, Void hosts ‘Impromptu’, a series of book-making workshops designed to share their vision and expertise with new talents. These workshops provide an invaluable opportunity for photographers to explore the process of book creation alongside experienced professionals.
Internship Opportunities Void offers Erasmus-granted internships, welcoming candidates eager to gain firsthand experience in the publishing industry. Interns work closely with the team on book production, educational projects, and general publishing operations. Remote internships are also available for designers.
Submitting Your Work Void is always open to reviewing portfolio submissions from photographers. While responses may not be immediate, artists whose projects align with Void’s vision can expect a dedicated and passionate collaboration.
